Events

The Gowrie Locomotive Trust attend a variety of heritage railway events, exhibitions, and model engineering shows throughout the year. These events are a great opportunity to meet the team, learn more about the Gowrie project, and experience a piece of railway history up close.

At many events, we bring along our beautifully crafted 5-inch gauge working model of Gowrie. This miniature locomotive is fully operational and offers a fascinating insight into the engineering and design of the full-sized engine. Watching it in steam is always a highlight for visitors of all ages. We also offer a selection of merchandise, including souvenirs and memorabilia, with all proceeds going directly towards the ongoing restoration and preservation of Gowrie.

We are always keen to welcome new supporters. If you’d like to get more involved, you can sign up as a Friend of the Gowrie Locomotive Trust at our stand during events. On selected occasions, we are also able to display components from the locomotive itself, giving visitors a rare chance to see these pieces before they are fitted to the engine.

Be sure to visit us at our next event—we’re always happy to chat, answer questions, and share our passion for this new-build locomotive project.

Talks and Presentations

The Trust can give fascinating and engaging presentations to interested groups, societies, and organisations, sharing the story of our work in bringing Gowrie back to life. These talks cover a wide range of topics, including the history and inspiration behind the original engine, the detailed design and engineering of the new-build locomotive, and the progress we have made so far on this ambitious and exciting project.

Each presentation is tailored to the audience, whether you are railway enthusiasts, model engineers or simply curious about steam locomotives.. We aim to bring the story of the new build to life through photographs, drawings, technical insight, and personal experiences from those involved in the build.

We can promise you a most interesting and entertaining occasion, filled with insight into both historical railway heritage and modern engineering craftsmanship. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the challenges, achievements, and passion driving the project forward, as well as to ask questions and engage directly with the team.

If your group would be interested in hosting a presentation, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch with us at gowrielocomotivetrust@gmail.com to discuss availability and arrangements.

We look forward to sharing the story of Gowrie with you.
