Spring Update 2025

Updated: Apr 23

At the moment Stuart is concentrating on getting the trailing bogie to a suitable condition to go to the Hengist open day at CTL Seal on the 12th April. First the oil groves are seen being machined in the axlebox horn faces prior to them being fitted to the bogie frames for the first trial fit of the wheelsets. There is still more work to be done but it is hoped that although not finished the bogie will be able to go to the event. What follows are images of the trial fitting of the wheelsets to check for their fit and adequate clearances.

During January the cylinders were transported to John Dunn Engineering of North Cave, near Hull, for machining to be started. This time consuming operation will take some time as it is necessary for some tooling to be made or obtained prior to a start on the actual machining. In order to reduce costs we are going to carry out some machining of the covers at our workshop. What follows are images of the cylinders being loaded.
